ICPAN Conference - Dublin : September 10 – 12, 2025
The idea for ICPAN originated in 2008 in London where delegates to the BARNA Conference that year, met in a pub and decided to host a global PeriAnaesthesia Nursing Conference. The nurse leaders of ASPAN, BARNA, IARNA and CANADA then seeded money from their organisations towards the first ever ICPAN conference in Toronto, Canada in 2011. This very successful meeting was followed by bi-ennial meetings in Dublin [2013], Copenhagen [2015], Sydney [2017] and Cancun [2019]. After the Dublin conference a Steering Committee was tasked to work towards the goal of incorporating an enduring global collaborative prior to the 2015 conference. In 2015 the International Collaboration of PeriAnaesthesia Nurses Inc. was officially launched and registered in the USA. To date ICPAN now has which now has 11 member states.
ICPAN is managed by the Board of Directors headed by the Chairman. Members of this Board are elected from the Global Advisory Council [GAC] which comprises one National Representative from each member association. The GAC advises the Board of Directors on all issues pertaining to the governance of the collaboration. The GAC is responsible for electing its members to the Board of Directors.
BARNA has been instrumental in developing ICPAN from it’s inception. The UK representative to ICPAN currently is Katie Bagstaff.
