Barna wishes to support the personal development and education of its members to improve the care of patients undergoing anaesthesia and during the post-operative period. To this end, £10.000 has been made available to sponsor individuals wishing to undertake further study through university courses or educational study days.

To apply for any of the sponsorship opportunities you must have been a member of BARNA for a minimum of one year.

Educational Sponsorship
Purpose of the sponsorship
- To promote and encourage education and study within the practice areas of anaesthesia and postoperative recovery.
- To extend knowledge and skills in order to meet the changing needs and challenges of anaesthetic and post operative recovery.
- To contribute to the existing body of knowledge within the anaesthetic and recovery nursing arena
- To assist with appropriate tuition fees
- Up to £500 per individual in any calendar year.
Personal Development Sponsorship
Purpose of the sponsorship
- To enhance knowledge and skills
- To raise awareness of issues and developments within the areas of anaesthesia and postoperative recovery
- To enable practitioners to establish nationwide links within the fields of anaesthesia and post-operative recovery
- To assist with attendance fees and costs of national conferences, study days
- 25% of conference/ study day fee.
Local Training and Development Sponsorship
Purpose of the sponsorship
- To support in-house training and development initiatives e.g. workshops/study days
- £50 towards running costs
- Delegate pack from M&K
BARNA conference sponsorship
Purpose of the sponsorship
- To support attendance at the annual conference by waiving attendance fee
- To enable members to establish links and network with other professionals in the fields of anaesthetics and postoperative recovery.
- To experience the only national conference specifically focused on anaesthetic and recovery practitioners
- 5 sponsored places
Terms and conditions
- Applicants must have been members of BARNA for a minimum of one year.
- Applicants must have applied for and gained permission for study leave as appropriate.
- Applicants must have secured funding for the outstanding balance of any fees/expenses.
- Applicants will be required to write an article to be considered for publication in BJARN where an original article or dissertation is produced as a result of the course of study. This must be made available within 6 months of completing the course.
- BARNA will be acknowledged in the course material.
- Sponsorship will be by means of a cheque made payable to the educational institution. Cheques made payable to the applicant will not be considered.
- Priority for sponsorship will be given to applicants who have not received funding in the previous three years.
- Applications will be considered by no less than three members the BARNA committee and the applicant will be informed of the decision within 6 weeks of their application.
